HephestasHephaestus's Roman name is Vulcan. He is the God of Fire/Forge and his parents are Hera and Zeus; his lover is Aphrodite. He was known as the "Lame God" and when he was born he was very small and weak so Hera left him on a mountainside. His symbols are a hammer, anvil, and a pair of tongs. One "festival" for Hephaestus was Chalceia, it celebrated not only Hephaestus but also Aphrodite for their handcraft work and their patronage. I would describe him as a necessary handyman. In one story Hephaestus gets revenge on Hera. Hearing about his childhood, Hephaestus was upset that Hera abandoned him so he made a golden thrown he knew his mother couldn't deny. Upon arrival Hera immediately sat on the throne and chains wrapped her up. The only person who could free her was Hephaestus himself and he eventually did.

HermesHermes/Mercury is the brother of Ares, Athena, and Apollo and is the son of Zeus. Some of Hermes children are Pan, Hermaphroditus and Tyche. He was born in a cave on Mount Cyllene. Hermes is the messenger of the gods. His symbol is a staff. He doesn't have any festivals. I would describe Hermes as a speedy swift messenger. One story of Hermes is about him stealing cattle from Apollo. As an infant he went out looking for his brother's, Apollo, cattle. When he found it he began taking it and then returned to his cave. When Apollo found out that his cattle was missing he looked all over the place and finally found out it was Hermes. He went to Hermes cave and then took him to Zeus to be judged. Zeus didn't punish Hermes but he did make him give back the cattle. Hermes then felt bad and gave his brother his lyre.

DionysusDionysus/Boccus is the God of wine. In my opinion he was the party God. The "Great Dionysia" was a dramatic festival which originated comedy, drama, and tragedy. Dionysus had an interesting birth story mainly because his mother was mortal and Hera found out about Zeus's affair when she was pregnant. His symbol is a glass of grape wine. In one story Zeus fell in love with Semele, a king of Thebes. To impress her he made the god Styx accept and make any wish of Semele's come true. Semele wanted to see all of Zeus's power and he couldn't deny it so he unleashed his power and therefore killed Semele because she was a mortal. Dionysus was already in the womb by the time she was burned so Zeus put him in his thigh to keep him alive.
